Service scope
Veritan will review the submitted gemstone record, evidence, and claims against the applicable tier standard under its published Certification Policy. The service is a professional review service; it is not laboratory testing, appraisal, insurance underwriting, or investment advice. Veritan is not affiliated with any gemological laboratory. Submission of laboratory evidence does not guarantee acceptance into any tier; all evidence is independently evaluated for qualification, independence, and claim correspondence.
Fees
Certification fees are: Tier 2 (Bronze) — $50 USD; Tier 3 (Silver) — $150 USD; Tier 4 (Gold) — $350 USD. Tier 1 (Self-Reported) is available to authorized customers at no per-submission fee where included in your access plan. Fees are charged at the time of submission. Payment does not guarantee certification at the requested tier or at any tier. If the submitted evidence supports a lower tier than the one for which you paid, Veritan may, at its discretion, offer to issue a credential at the supported tier or decline issuance and apply the refund policy below.
What payment does and does not include
Payment purchases a professional review of the submitted record and evidence. Payment does not guarantee issuance of a credential, guarantee certification at any particular tier, transfer physical custody of any gemstone to Veritan, create an appraiser-client or fiduciary relationship, or confer any right to use the PROVENANCE VERIFIED™ mark (mark use rights are governed solely by the Mark License, which arises only upon issuance of a valid credential). The determination of eligibility rests solely with Veritan's review process.
Turnaround and process
Estimated turnaround times are: Tier 2 — 3–5 business days; Tier 3 — 5–10 business days; Tier 4 — 10–20 business days. These are estimates only and not guarantees. Complex submissions requiring additional evidence review, conflict clearance, or dual-approval may require additional time. Veritan will communicate material delays. Turnaround begins when the submission is complete and payment is confirmed, not at the time the submission draft is created.
Dispute process
If you disagree with a certification determination, you may request a review by emailing support@provenanceverified.org within 30 days of the determination, describing the specific factual basis for your disagreement and attaching any additional evidence. Veritan will review the request and respond within 15 business days. A review does not guarantee a changed outcome. If the disagreement is not resolved through internal review, you may seek resolution through the dispute mechanism in the governing law clause below.
Limitation of liability and governing law
Veritan's liability under this Agreement is limited to the fees paid for the specific submission giving rise to the claim. Veritan is not liable for consequential, indirect, or punitive damages. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which VERITAN, INC. is incorporated. Veritan reserves the right to update this Agreement; continued use of the service after notice constitutes acceptance.
