Acceptance and eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use this service. By using the platform, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the authority to accept these Terms on behalf of any organization you represent. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the platform.
Nature of the service
PROVENANCE VERIFIED™ is an independent provenance certification platform. We are not a gemological laboratory, appraiser, insurer, or investment adviser. We are not affiliated with GIA, SSEF, Gübelin, AGL, or any other laboratory. A PROVENANCE VERIFIED™ credential certifies the provenance claims and evidence basis on record as of the credential date; it does not constitute an appraisal, a determination of gem quality or value, an insurance endorsement, or investment advice. Laboratory evidence submitted as part of a certification does not automatically qualify an item for any particular tier; all evidence is evaluated under our published certification policy.
Prohibited uses
You may not: (a) submit false, fabricated, or altered evidence; (b) misrepresent a non-certified item as bearing a valid PROVENANCE VERIFIED™ credential; (c) use a revoked, suspended, expired, or superseded credential as if it were active; (d) attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access; (e) use the API, webhooks, or MCP tools to automate credential issuance or evidence submission outside the published API contract; (f) reproduce or distribute the platform content, mark, or documentation without authorization; or (g) use the service for any unlawful purpose.
Intellectual property
PROVENANCE VERIFIED™, the corporate master mark, associated design system elements, documentation, software, and all other platform content are owned or licensed by VERITAN, INC. These Terms do not grant you any ownership interest. Your right to display the PROVENANCE VERIFIED™ mark in connection with a certified item is governed solely by the Mark License, which is separate from these Terms, and terminates immediately upon revocation of the underlying credential.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. VERITAN, INC. DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VERITAN, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Modifications and governing law
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after notice of a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which VERITAN, INC. is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
